A fellow tech artist called me this morning after having caught the bug to really up his filmmaking game. He'd gotten access to a Canon 5D Mark II with some good glass, but as a world-class sound engineer he knew it just wasn't gonna cut it on the audio side of things. Which brought him to a question I get asked a whole lot - "Is the Tascam DR-100 really worth the money?"
It's a fair question, given how many other field audio solutions are available for DSLR shooters. Great audio is half the battle, and you want to make sure you're getting what you need without breaking the bank. And since this was the third time in a week I've been asked about it I figured it was time to answer it here...
