wwe wrestling scandal
So there's a new scandal breaking today in the world of sports. Just when you thought things couldn't get any worse, right? Maybe you'd better sit down if you're not already.
Today World Wrestling Entertainment (formally the WWF) suspended 10 or its wrestlers for failing steroids test. Can you believe it?
With all of the ugliness that has plagued professional baseball, football and basketball recently, I think I speak for sports fans everywhere when I say we were all looking to professional wrestling as the last bastion of athletics in its purest form. We all knew that with wrestling, you could trust the training and dedication of these seasoned, mature sportsmen. The whole enterprise practically gleamed with the glow of unquestionable integrity.
All I can say is I'm shocked. Shocked! I think we all need to look inside ourselves and ask what kind of a world are we leaving to future generations . . .
(and for those of you who think I'm writing this to avoid addressing the fact that I turn 31 today, I'm appalled and shocked. Shocked!!!)

harry potter vs. the sabbath
Sorry, but this one is too good to pass up. It seems that the minister of trade in Israel is threatening to sue any shop that opens on the Sabbath to sell the new Harry Potter book. No kidding - file charges and everything, for violating the "spirit" of the Sabbath. Most shops are planning to anyway.

mystery solved
If you're like me, there are mysteries you struggle with. Many of them all of your life. Most of us will never find the answers we are looking for. Over time we learn to live in the ambiguity. Yesterday I was driving on a back country highway when suddenly the answer to one of these riddles presented itself. I have, at long last, discovered the origin of "Milk Day." It began in Harvard, Illinois.

Jobs I Do Not Want: Part 1
. . . you know, there are times my job can be stressful. As a Worship Pastor Christmas and Easter seasons can definitely ramp the pressure a little bit.
But never in my life have I been pushed to the point when the stress so completely consumes me that my face distorts into this. It's hard to believe this man's circulatory system can handle something like that. So I'm going to go ahead and declare the job of NFL head coach #1 on my list of "Jobs I Do Not Want."
